An Inter- House Rangoli Competition held on 3rd November2023 in the school ground was a vibrant and colorful event that showcased the creative & artistic skills of students from classes VI to VIII . Rangoli, a traditional Indian art form, involves creating intricate & decorative patterns on the ground using colored powders, rice, flower petals & other material. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing each of the four schools' houses.The judging criteria included the creativity & originality of the designs and the clarity & presentation of the rangolis. The winners were:

  • 2nd place: B.Fateh Singh House
  • 3rd place: B.Ajit Singh House.

EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO THE NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTER
On 3rd November 2023, students from classes VIII to IX, along with two science teachers, had the exciting opportunity to visit the National Science Center. This visit aimed to broaden their horizons, spark their interest in science & provide a hands- on educational experience. During the visit, students participated in a variety of activities & live science demonstrations.The students attended a hands-on session,'Fantastic Chemistry', and performed acid- base reactions under the supervision of a research scholar. The visit was a valuable addition to the academic curriculum, promoting experiential learning.

NAGAR KIRTAN CELEBRATIONS ON GURU NANAK DEVJI'S PRAKASH PURAB
Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee carried out a grand NAGAR KIRTAN on 26 November 2023 to celebrate the Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Devji The students & staff of GHPS, along with the Principal, VicePrincipal & HM, participated with full devotion & paid their obeisance to the First Guru. The religious procession commenced from Gurudwara SisGanj Sahib, Chandni Chowk, with the revered Guru Granth Sahibji being carried in a beautifully adorned palanquin, amid the chants of 'JO BOLE SO NIHAL SAT SRIAKAL & WAHEGURU.' Our school band & students dressed up as ' Panj Pyare' contributed to the visual spectacle of the procession. As an integral part of Sikh tradition , the Nagar Kirtan included acts of Seva such as distributing food, water & other essentials to the public along the procession route.

PRAKASH PURAB CELEBRATIONS OF GURU NANAK DEVJI
The Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Devji was celebrated with great religious fervor on 27 November2023, in the school premises. A special program of 'Deepmaala ' was organized , where students & staff gathered to offer prayers & seek blessings of Guru Nanak Devji, the founder of Sikhism .The occasion was graced by the presence of School Chairman, S.Amarjeet Singh Pinki, Senior Vice-Chairman S.Bhupinder Singh Bhullar,distinguished dignitaries & an impressive gathering of parents. The celebrations commenced with Samapti of Sehej Paath & recital of 'Rehraas Sahib' . The poems, speeches & Sakhis on Guruji's life & teachings and principles of Sikhism contributed to a holistic celebration that not only honored Guru Nanak Devji but also promoted unity , empathy and a sense of social responsibility among the school community. The Shabad Kirtan recited by the school choir filled the air with a sense of peace & tranquility. On this auspicious occasion, our young Harkrishians, who brought laurels to school in various music competitions, were awarded prizes- including certificates, trophies & cash prizes. In his address, the School Chairman, S.Amarjeet Singh Pinki, congratulated everyone on this pious day& apprised the 'sangat' on teachings of Guruji towards a path of righteousness & understanding. The School Principal, Ms.Mandeep Kaur, extended her heartfelt wishes & blessed the students by inspiring them to make a positive impact on the world, reinforcing the importance of compassion and charity. The school premises were adorned with vibrant decorations reflecting the spirit of the festival & the celebrations concluded by lighting hundreds of candles and diyas by the teachers & prefects. May the light of Guruji 's wisdom illuminate our lives.

Inter -House Sakhi Rendition competition for primary segment was held on 29th November 2023 in the school premises. The first and Second Positions were bagged by Guntas Kaur and Ekveer Singh respectively. Shobhita Aneja got the Third Position.

SAY NO TO PLASTIC

An awareness campaign activity on 'Phasing Out Single Use Plastic & Plastic Waste Management ' was conducted on 4 October 2023 for classes VI-VIII. The aim was to educate students on plastic pollution by sharing scientific knowledge on plastic & its impact on the environment and human health. The students enthusiastically participated in this event & took a pledge in creating a new, clean, healthy & and plastic free India by not using plastic & educating others about the dangers of plastic use.

Awareness regarding prevention of Rabies

School Health Program for Rabies Prevention & Control Vaccine was organized on 4 October 2023 for classes VI-VIII, to create awareness among school children regarding dog, cat & monkey bite and the appropriate protocols to follow in case they encounter a stray or unfamiliar dog. A detailed IEC material & protocols were displayed & the videos effectively disseminated the information on the safety measures to be adopted in case of such crisis.

Mental Health Week

Mental Health Week is being conducted for school students from 4 October 2023 to 10 October 2023. On the first day, the school organized yoga activities for students of Classes XI-XII to raise awareness about this ancient practice, which plays an important role in relaxing the mind & body and boosting people's immune system. Warm-up exercises were taken enthusiastically, and all the students practiced & performed sitting & standing asanas, importance of these were explained simultaneously.

A workshop on Women's Physical Health and Hygiene was conducted on 10 October 2023 for the girl students of classes VIII & IX. The students were educated about personal hygiene & the importance of cleanliness & infection prevention during menstrual cycle.The resource persons, Ms Poonam Paliwal & Neelam Kataria, along with their team, explained the significance of period hygiene & the misconceptions & taboos surrounding menstruation. Participants also learned that a balanced diet ,rich in vitamins & and antioxidants, will ensure sustained energy throughout the day.

Roohi, CEO/Founder of 'Raising Brands' organized a career guidance fair for classes XI & XII at Bharti Vidya Bhawan on 11 October2023, to orient & familiarize students with various career prospects. 20 students,along with the teacher,Mr.Vinod Vij, visited the stalls of different universities - Sharda, SRM, Ashoka, O.P.Jindal, etc.& and got insight of various career options available in contemporary times. It was an enriching experience for the students.

GHPS, India Gate, organized a Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) on 21 October 2023 that featured an exhibition "MIND AND MACHINE" A Social Science & Tech Affair, showcasing the talents & accomplishments of our students in the fields of Computer Science & Social Science . This event aimed to foster an interactive environment between parents, teachers, and students, enabling them to gain insight into the innovative projects & research conducted by the students. The Computer Science segment of the exhibition displayed charts & models on artificial intelligence driven by python.The students presented projects using Python pandas that deal with data analysis & visualization. The motto of the Social Science exhibition was "All life is an experiment .The more experiments you make, the better." The charts depicted the solar system, earth's movements, political system of India, major continents, important monuments of India. The working models on rain- water harvesting , earth's rotation - day n night, windmill, and volcanic eruptions caught everyone 's eye. A very informative skit on NEP2020 was also highly appreciated by the visitors. The interactive activities & demonstrations not only engaged the audience but also enhanced the students' knowledge & confidence.     An event was organized by Yuva Unstoppable on 1st September 2023 , at NDMC Convention Center, New Delhi for promoting education and digital literacy among students. 40 students from our school were honored with tablets for their achievements and academic excellence. The Chief Minister for the occasion, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas ,Minister of Housing and Urban Affair appreciated our students &interacted & shared his insights and experiences with students. It was a proud moment for all of us. Congratulations to all the winners!

    An orientation program 'WASTE TO WEALTH 'was organized for teachers on 26 September 2023 by Blue Planet Environmental Solution , with an aim to nudge educators in motivating each student to bring 5 kgs of used paper trash for recycling & thereby contributing to sustainability and resource conservation. Our school took the initiative to raise awareness& support this paper recycling effort by becoming a partner & potentially setting a Guinness World Record in collecting waste paper .

    A Visit to Tilak Marg Police Station In continuation to the celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in line with the nation's unity & integrity, a visit to the local Police Station of Tilak Marg was undertaken by 30 students along with 2 teachers on 1st August 2023. The event was organised to enhance the understanding & knowledge about the police and security forces, their functioning , challenges &objectives. The SHO,Mr.Mishra, sensitised the students to the method of reporting crimes, created awareness of traffic rules, drug menace, and cyber crime. The excited students were taken around Police station ,Lock up & chambers of SHO. It was a learning experience for the students & staff. A poster making activity was also conducted on the theme of " Know your Police - Jane 8 Peher ke Prehari ka" in the school premises.

    An Inter- House 'Live Science Experiments' competition was organised by the Primary Segment on 2nd August 2023. Students from all four houses showcased static & working models, charts & displayed innovative live experiments.The First Position was bagged by Baba Fateh Singh House followed by Baba Ajit Singh &Jujhar Singh House with Second & Third Positions respectively.

    GHPS,India Gate, hosted an engaging & informative Math & Science Exhibition on 5th August 2023. The event aimed to showcase the students' creativity, critical thinking & understanding of various mathematical & scientific concepts through interactive displays, experiments, projects & games. The highlights of the exhibition were games & models based on angels sum property, fractions ,Pythagorastheorams & 3D shapes. The charts & working models of image recognition devices,reflection , & models on life processes caught everyone's attention.The students organised visual presentations to help visitors understand the concepts of their working models. The exhibition witnessed great enthusiasm & participation from children of diverse classes & were highly appreciated by the onlookers..     Inter GHPS SAKHI RENDITION COMPETITION was held for primary classes on 2nd August 2023 at Guru Harkrishan Public School, Fateh Nagar. The school bagged the BEST TEAM TROPHY and Parmatam Singh of Class 2 won the Second position in the event. Well Done Team!!!

    The 77th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm & patriotic fervor at Guru Harkrishan Public School, India Gate, on 17th August 2023-24 The school premises were adorned with tri color decorations& students,teachers and staff came together to commemorate this significant day in India's history. The celebration began with the invocation of God's blessings followed by the hoisting of the national flag by the School Chairman, S.Amarjeet Singh Pinki, Senior Vice-Chairman, S.Bhupinder Singh Bhullar & other dignitaries. The rendition of the national Anthem echoed through the air, instilling a sense of pride& unity among the attendees.Students from primary, middle, and senior wing presented patriotic songs, dances, poems & speeches,fostering a sense of national pride& glory& reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and the ongoing journey of progress & growth as a nation. The stage came alive with the students electrifying bhangra moves and vibrant music. In his address,the School Chairman , S.Amarjeet Pinki , instilled a sense of social responsibility, a community service & gave a deeper understanding of the sacrifices& challenges faced by our freedom fighters. S Bhupinder Singh Bhullar, Senior Vice-Chairman, took the opportunity & congratulated everyone on this special day and inspired students to work for the betterment of our nation. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks from the School Principal, Ms.Mandeep Kaur, appreciating all those who contributed to making the event a success.     FOUNDER'S DAY:Commemorating our Roots Guru Harkrishan Public School, India Gate celebrated the 58th Founder's Day of Guru Harkrishan Public Schools with great religious fervor & enthusiasm on 19th July 2023. A special program was organized ,which started with the recital of JAPJI SAHIB PAATH by all students &staff. The students showed their gratitude to the founding fathers & our patron saint Guru Harkrishan Sahibji through speeches & posters. We congratulate our entire GHPS fraternity on this auspicious occasion of Founder's Day & extend our best wishes to all those who have contributed in achieving the aims & objectives of our school.

    An Online Essay Writing Competition, based on the life of Bhai Vir Singh Ji , was conducted by Bhai Vir Singh Sahitya Sadan in which two students of Guru Harkrishan Public School, India Gate,Pari Rastogi from Class 12th and Achraj Singh from class10th participated with full devotion and bagged a consolation prize of Rs1100/each ,along with a trophy and a certificate. The prize distribution program was held on June 10, 2023, at the center.

    Nursery Orientation Programme - 2023

    A special assembly was conducted to celebrate the Prakash Purab of Guru Amar Dasji on 4 May2023. The program commenced with Shabad Kirtan. Students disseminated information about the life & teachings of Guru Amar Dasji & were inspired to lead a life like him. An online quiz was organized for students of classes IV to X & XII on the biography of the third guru .

    On the eve of Mother's Day, students from classesVI-VIII, prepared a special Mini book to bring a smile on their beloved mother's face . The students came up with new and innovative ideas for their cards and mini books &each card was special and different in its own way ,with small cute notes and pictures. The students made videos and sent to their teachers.

    Sowing a Seed of love Towards Nature

    In the Activity period, students from primary &middle segment learnt the process of germination and about the seeds which could be germinated . Children were instructed to bring seeds of any plant, that is available at home and soil &a jar. The Science teachers conducted the activity in a playful way. Children were also encouraged to plant more saplings in their surroundings so as to keep our environment green .

    "One Earth, One Family, One Future"- G20

    An Inter-House Quiz activity from Discussion to Quescussion was conducted on 15 May2023 for Classes IX- X. The major objective of this activity was to create awareness about G20 & its significance. The participants of the four teams showed great enthusiasm & skilfully answered the questions asked in the two rounds. The First & Second Position was bagged by Baba Jujhar Singh House and Baba Fateh Singh House respectively.

    An orientation program was conducted on 7th April 2023 ,with a view to get maximum involvement of parents and apprise them with the educational process, rules and regulations and teaching methodology of the school .The program commenced with a welcome dance by the primary students .In her address, the School Principal ,Ms Mandeep Kaur , highlighted the need of collaborative efforts of the teachers and parents in shaping the future of children and preparing them to take up the challenges of life. Some fun filled activities and games made the day joyful for the parents.

    DELHI FATEH DIWAS-2023


    The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee celebrated a two day 'DELHI FATEH DIWAS' on April 8 and 9,2023 at Red Fort,dedicated to the 200th martyrdom day of Sikh warrior Akali Baba Phula Singh & 300th birth anniversary of Baba Jassa Singh Ramgarhia. The school staff & students participated in large numbers,with full religious fervor & became aware of the glorious Sikh history. Various events were organized at Red Fort to connect the sangat,especially the new generation,with Gurbani &to make our youth aware of different phases of evolvement of Sikh religion,culture & history.

    A special assembly was organised on 13th April 2023 to celebrate Baisakhi and apprise the children of their rich culture and heritage. The program commenced with School Shabad. Dressed in typical folk attire, students performed group songs on harvest season and also presented a skit show casing and reviving the Jallianwala Bagh episode which left the audience spellbound . The students reverberated with enthusiasm to the dhol beats in Bhangra performance. While speaking on the occasion, Ms Mandeep Kaur ,the School Principal said that Baisakhi was not only a harvest festival but also an auspicious day as on this day Guru Gobind Singh had established the' Khalsa Panth' to up hold and enforce Truth ,Equality and Justice for all.

    EDUCATIONAL TRIP TO NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTRE

    A panel discussion on ' SUPERBUGS-The Unseen Pandemic ' was organised by the National Science Centre on 13th April 2023,in collaboration with World Animal Protection ,India and Superheros against Superbugs, at the National Science Centre. 37 students from the senior segment, along with three science teachers, actively participated in the panel discussion. The main highlight was how the prolonged use of antibiotics leads to drug resistant bacteria development. It was a thought-provoking & insightful session.

    Our school believes in the holistic development of students and so the students of Classes V to XII paid a visit to Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib.They witnessed a holographic presentation on the Unique sacrifices of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji.It was divine awareness about the history of Ten gurus which left all mesmerised.

    An Inter- House Turban Tying Competition was held on 19 April 2023 for classes IX-X on the theme ' Khalsa Sirjana Diwas' ,in the school premises. The Sikh boys participated enthusiastically & tied turbans of various eye catching & beautiful hues.The First & Second Positions were clinched by Simranjeet Singh & Damanpreet Singh of Baba.Fateh Singh House and the Third Position was bagged by Manveer Singh of Baba Zorawar Singh House.

    A Tree Plantation Program was organised on 19 April 2023 for classes VI- VIII, to create awareness regarding climate change & benefits of planting trees. A wide range of saplings ,including medicinal & herbal plants, were planted in an organized way by students in the empty spaces of the school garden.The participants were highly enthusiastic while watering the plants & pledged to take care of each young tree.

    GURMUKHI DIWAS- MAA BOLI SAADA MAAN

    On the eve of the Guruship Day of Sri Guru Angad Devji, which is celebrated as 'Gurmukhi Diwas' , Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee organised a special program at Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib on 21April2023. Senior students ,along with two Punjabi teachers, participated with full devotion & paid their obeisance to our mother language,Punjabi. The students not only taught Gurmukhi alphabets to the congregation (sangat) but also reminded all to stay connected with our mother language,Punjabi.

    Patka Tying Competition in Primary Segment

    A Gurmat Quiz on the life history of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahibji was organised by Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee at Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib on 27th April and 28 April 2023. Our students participated whole heartedly and with full devotion and won many prizes in the audience round. The efforts of the teachers and students were highly appreciated by all.

    A Counseling Session on CUET EXAM PATTERN2023 was conducted for Class XII students on 1st & 2nd February 2023.The resource persons - Prof.Pooja Malik, Faculty in Dept.of Psychology & Convenor of Admission at Mata Sundri College and Dr.Jaswant Kaur , Faculty in Dept.of Education& member of Admission Committee, enlightened students on the changes in the pattern of undergraduate admission & explained step by step procedure of filling admission forms, criteria, requirements & other important facts related to CUET2023. It proved to be an enriching session for our students.

    On 4th February 2023, GHPS India Gate organized a Work Experience Exhibition to showcase the creative & technical talent of students from the primary level to the higher secondary level. The students displayed immense confidence, teamwork & presentation skills while exhibiting their non- academic abilities. A wide array of items such as candles, greeting cards,jewellery boxes, wooden handicrafts, best out of waste using ice-cream sticks, plastic spoons, earbuds etc, soft toys made from towels, cotton,rice,socks;Gift wrapping items , Envelopes, Fabric painting,Home decor,Macrame Art, Flower making using popcorns, paper & other material,had been prepared by our talented students, under the guidance of teachers & mentors. The students also familiarized the assembled audience with a variety of activities by giving live visual demonstrations through working models &Robotics. Besides music, dance, band and aerobic performances , there was a skit presentation on a scene inspired by PIKU movie & a Korean drama displaying what true friendship means. An inspiring speech of APJ Abdul Kalam given by Keshav from class 9B captivated all. There was an overwhelming response from parents & visitors who appreciated students work of art & creativity. The cuisine section ' Tummy Filler ' attracted everyone with their mouth watering dishes.'It was a day full of fun & enjoyment.The School Principal , Ms.Mandeep Kaur congratulated the students & staff & appreciated the efforts of all in making the event successful.

    An Inter-house Sandwich Making Competition was organized on 8th February 2023, where the students of primary segment not only exhibited their culinary talent & created delectable plates of sandwiches but also gained a deeper understanding of eating healthy food. The participants of all four houses donned their chef caps & displayed full zeal & fervor while preparing the best sandwich . The competition was judged by the Principal, Ms.Mandeep Kaur & the School Headmistress Ms Gurmeet Kaur Virdi.

    A graduation ceremony for nursery children was organised on 21st Feb 2023, in the school premises to honor and celebrate their achievements, on completion of their first educational milestone. The celebration commenced with the invocation of God's blessings. The School Chairman,Sardar Amarjeet Singh Pinky and Senior Vice Chairman,Sardar Bhupinder Singh Bhullar, graced the occasion and felicitated the young achievers with Certificates of Graduation. THE KIRTI CHAKRA CAPT.DAVINDER SINGH JASS ALL ROUNDER TROPHY was awarded to two deserving students of Nursery Class- YASHKIRAT SINGH & PRAMATAM SINGH. Our petite ballerinos and ballerinaas formally welcomed the guests and a large gathering of parents, with a mesmerizing musical performance 'Benvenuto'. A special dance performance depicting an Eternal Bond between a father and daughter touched the heart and soul of everyone present. A special tribute was paid to all the frontline corona warriors and the selfless service of DSGMC and Sikh Volunteers in the short play ' Sentinels of the SOIL. The tiny tots dressed up in colorful traditional attires as brides and grooms in a fashion show left everyone spellbound. In his address, the School Chairman, complemented the graduates on their achievements and also appreciated the dedication and hard work of the Principal, Head mistress & teachers in shaping the students through education and other co-curricular activities. The program culminated with everyone dancing, along with our tiny Mutiyaars and Gabrus, to Dhol beats and the vibrant music of Bhangra that set the tone and mood of the atmosphere at an all time high. It was a proud and enjoyable day for all.

    A live- viewing of the programme PARIKSHA PE CHARCHA 2023 from Talkatora Stadium , was arranged for the students of Classes IX- XII in School's Conference Room with proper Audio& Video equipments( Laptop, Projector& Screen)on 27 January 2023. The programme was attendedby the School Principal , Ms Mandeep Kaur,Faculties & students.During the session, students raised their queries about various distractions& challenges they are facing during the examination.In this live telecast, PMNarendra Modi answered all questions posed by students from all over India thereby motivating each student to do their best & leaving exam stress & nervousness behind.It was an enlightening & effective session for our students .

    Sikh History and Gurbani Forum, under the aegis of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee, conducted a Gurmat Quiz dedicated to the 400th Prakash Purab of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahibji on 27th January2023 in the school premises. Students from ClassesVI-IX participated with full enthusiasm & exhibited their knowledge & understanding, by answering the questions on the life history of Guru Teg Bahadurji. The names of the winners are:

    An educational trip was organized by the school to the National Science Centre, Pragati Maidan, for the students of classes VII & VIII on 27th January 2023.The students took a tour of the vaccine gallery & were excited to observe certain exhibits that covered various topics of their syllabus. The resource person enlightened the learners on scientific concepts like - Gravity, Air pressure, Sound & Force.It was an interactive session & everyone participated & thoroughly enjoyed the fun filled activities conducted by the resource person. The visit proved to be a great way to arouse curiosity in the minds of our students & was a thrilling & motivating experience.

    In order to make students aware of G20 & enable young minds to think critically, an Essay /Paragraph Writing Competition was organized on 27th January2023 for classes VI to XI. The students participated enthusiastically& expressed their personal opinion on the given topics- 'Lifestyle for the Environment' , 'Theme of G20' , ' Impact of Digital Economy on student learning'. Pushkin Gupta of VI-D, Dashamjot Kaur & Kalpana Vishwa Karma of IX-C bagged the Ist , IInd & IIIrd Positions respectively.

    The school hosted Bala Pritam - Inter GHPS Basketball Tournament 2022 on 5th December 2022. The vigor & enthusiasm of players from 11 teams of GHPS branches- was infectious & displayed commitment & dedication. The winning teams were Hemkunt Colony, Fateh Nagar, Hargobind Enclave, India Gate & Hemkunt Colony respectively.

    THE GHPS SPORTS TEAM SHINES AGAIN CBSE Badminton Zonal Tournament was held at Mamta Modern Senior Secondary School from 7th Dec 2022 to 12th Dec 2022. Our girls team participated enthusiastically & bagged a Gold Medal in the under 14 category.The team comprised of Japleen kaur, Addya & Bani. The 61st Delhi State Gymnastic Championship was held at IG Stadium from 10th Dec to 12th Dec 2022. Manthan from class XI B gave a thunderous performance & brought laurels to school by winning a silver medal in Pomel horse, Vaulting table& All round exercise ; and a bronze medal in Floor exercise, Parallel bar& Horizontal bar. Congratulations to all the winners!

    SPORTS-A-THON 2022

    20th December was a day with a difference at GHPS, India Gate.The students forgot the tension of study & Class Work & spent the day, turning warmer every passing minute not only in the sun going higher in the sky but also with the joyous cheering & applause for their classmates participating in various athletic events held for all classes.The programme was graced by the School Chairman , S.Amarjeet Singh Pinki, Senior Vice-Chairman , S.Bhupinder Singh Bhullar, Chairman of the Sports Committee, S.Gurdeep Singh Bittu. The Principal, Ms Mandeep Kaur,accorded a formal welcome to the guests who appreciated the efforts of the staff & students for making the event a success. The day ended with Aerobics set to the foot tapping music of 'Brazil'.

    THOSE WHO DIE FEARLESSLY, NEVER DIE"

    A special assembly was held on 22nd December 2022,to pay tribute to the unprecedented martyrdom of the four Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singhji--Baba Zorawar Singh ji, Baba Fateh Singh ji, Baba Ajit Singh ji & Baba Jujhar Singh ji. The programme started with the recital of Shabad"Mitr Piyare Nu.." Participating in the event ,students from different classes narrated the history of Char Sahibzadas in the form of awe-inspiring poems, songs, sakhis & placards depicting the qualities that made Sahibzadas immortal in history & our memories. In her address, the School Principal, Ms Mandeep Kaur, inspired students to follow the ideals set by the Sahibzadas & to be courageous, brave & to stand by their faith strongly. Each soul was filled with gratitude & veneration for the brave warriors.


    Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle(Delhi State) had organized an Inter School "NAITIK SIKHIYA IMTIHAAN" at the Zonal level on the occasion of 553 Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak Devji.The books,to prepare for the exam,were provided by GGSSC.It was a proud moment for all when GURVEER SINGH of Class V-C was declared FIRST in the Zonal Competition & eleven students got rank in merit. The students were appreciated & honored with cash prize & trophies at the Prize Distribution Ceremony held at Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara Hall,Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib on 3 November,2022.

    SAKA PANJA SAHIB

    To mark the first centenary anniversary of Saka(massacre) Panja Sahib ---- a significant chapter of Sikh history & to enlighten the students & staff on it, a special assembly was conducted on 4November,2022. The students paid tribute to the martyrs of Saka Panja Sahib by narrating the history of struggle of the Sikh Community. A video,depicting the literature &story of sacr & devotion.

    On the eve of Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Devji, various activities & competitions were conducted for students of classes VI-VIII. The students participated whole- heartedly in the events and showcased their creativity & reverence in writing 'Mool Mantar', 'Slogans' & 'Teachings of Guru NanakDevji'. Three best entries were awarded certificates.

    National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG)organized Ganga Utsav-The River Festival 2022 on 4th November2022 dedicated to the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium,India Gate, New Delhi. The students from classes VI-VIII were invited to be a part of this Utsav with the aim to connect with younger generation on the important issues of water conservation & river rejuvenation.The students witnessed a plethora of activities & cultural programs with full enthusiasm and gusto.The Classical & Folk dance performances & a discussion on Women and Water by telling how traditionally women have been responsible for fetching water ,captivated the spectators. The trailer of the movie-Ek Ank-was also screened showing how individuals can be a part of river conservation.The students were mesmerized by a story telling session by Ms.Seema Wahi Mukherjee on Gangetic Dolphins. Nukkad Natak was also performed to raise awareness on keeping the Ganga clean & encouraging individuals to their part in this cause. The students thoroughly enjoyed the Pottery & Nest Making workshops.The other attractions of the event were Bookstalls,Puppeteers & food stalls. It was a learning experience for all.

    The Principal,HM & Staff of GHPS participated with full devotion in the first 'Mahaan Nagar Kirtan' organized by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee,on 7th November 2022, after three years of Covid19 stress. Dedicated to the 553rd Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Devji, the religious procession started from Gurudwara SisGanj Sahib in Chandni Chowk in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahibji decorated in a palanquin & included Panj Pyaras,Nihang Sikhs on horseback, bands and kirtani groups on foot & vehicles . However, the participation by school students was forbidden this time, keeping in mind their health due to hazardous increase in the pollution levels. Focussing on making the event more environment friendly & caring for Mother Earth, the Nagar Kirtan culminated at Gurudwara Nanak Piao Sahib on G.T Karnal Road.

    The 553rd Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated on 8th November, 2022 with great pride, honour and respect. The school building and the entire premises were decorated with flowers, colourful lights, rangoli, candles and diyas.
    The programme commenced with Samapti of Sehej Paath and recital of Rehraas Sahib Ji.
    The Shabad Kirtan recited by the school choir in Guru's honour, filled the air with a sense of peace and tranquility. The entire school resonated with the sound of hymns. The Sakhis, speeches and poems delivered by students gave an insight into the philosophies, principles and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
    The occasion was graced by the presence of School Chairman S. Amarjeet Singh Pinki, distinguished dignitaries and an impressive gathering of parents. In his address, the School Chairman, S. Amarjeet Singh Pinki congratulated everyone on this pious occasion and apprised the 'sangat' on teachings of Guruji and emphasized on following the path of universal peace and brotherhood. The School Principal, Ms. Mandeep Kaur, extended her heartfelt wishes on this religious celebration and said that in today’s busy life people are drifting away from many things including devotion and we all should revive the spirit of spirituality and also pledge to save our environment.
    The programme concluded on a happy note with festive spirit by lighting hundreds of candles by teachers and prefects.

    Synergy--a Techno Fest was conducted by SGT University, Gurugram on 11Nov,2022. It aimed to synergize young minds in creativity & orient students towards research & innovation. 37 students from Class XII, ( Science & Commerce Stream) along with 2 teachers visited the Fest. It demonstrated projects in Science and Technology, working models from medical sciences, management & humanities & other fields. The Synergy projects also displayed scientific solutions for challenges in life like Waste Management, Efficient Transportation, Resource Management, Healthcare Challenges etc. It was a learning experience for all.

    The Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadurji,the ninth Sikh Guru, was celebrated with great piousness & serenity on 25th November2022, in the school premises. A special morning assembly was conducted dedicated to Guru Tegh Bahadurji's Bani- starting with Salok Mehla 9. The melodious shabad kirtan, poems &sakhis narrating supreme sacrifices of Guruji for others filled everyone with obeisance towards this great Guru. The school reverberated with the echo of 'Bole So Nihal' 'Sat Shri Akal' .

    The Principal,Staff &Students participated in the Nagar Kirtan organised by Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee, on 29November 2022, to commemorate the Martyrdom Day of the ninth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahibji. The procession, which included school children,decorated horses, elephants, gatka parties & shabdi jathas, started from Gurudwara SisGanj Sahib,Chandni Chowk& accompanying Shri Guru Granth Sahibji decorated in Palki Sahib, terminated at Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in the evening. The School Band not only displayed fine skills & coordination but also showed great aplomb & religious fervor during the procession which attracted the attention of all the passers-by & devotees.

    To imbibe good moral values & develop the right kind of skill, a Sakhi Rendition competition was organised in the school premises on 30November 2022, for the primary segment. To create awareness among school students, CBSE in collaboration with CVC(Central Vigilance Commission) organized an Essay Writing Competition on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week2022 on 10th October2022,in school premises. The duration of the competition was one hour & the topic was 'Corruption Free India for a developed Nation'. Students from classes X-XII participated with full enthusiasm,expressing their perspective & ideas on the given topic. The Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Ramdasji was celebrated with religious fervor on 13th October,2022.A special assembly was held by Principal,staff& students. The programme began with a mesmerizing 'shabad kirtan' in praise & glory of Guru Ram Dasji, which enchanted& soothed the soul of everyone. The speeches & sakhis,related to the life historyof the Fourth Guru enlightened & inspired all to follow the path of truthfulness & humility.

The Department of Mathematics, Social Science & Computer Science organized an Exhibition on 15th October2022,in the school premises .Ms Mandeep Kaur,School Principal,fostered courage,guidance& insight into the teachers& students throughout the preparations. It was a treat for eyes to see amazing models, pictures, charts & canvas painting on various topics related to Social Science.The students curated mesmerizing exhibits & disseminated CYBER AWARENESS through charts & models.
Maths was made more interesting & easier by the innovative games on Probability & various charts & models on Proof's of Identity,Relation& Volume,Co-ordinate Geometry,Tangrams, Invisible Math & life history of various Mathematicians-Aryabhatta, Hipparchus& Ramanujan.The visitors participated enthusiastically & were amazed to see how mathematics is applicable in real life.
A robust number of visitors in the exhibition & the Parents Feedback & appreciation filled all with great joy & energy. Students learnt the value of research work,organization skills & teamwork while putting up this event.

DIWALI CELEBRATIONS WITH FULL GUSTO

Carrying forward its tradition of celebrating Green Diwali & to make students of GHPS India Gate , aware of environmental pollution & health hazards due to excessive bursting of fire crackers, a number of competitions & activities were organised for the students during the Diwali week from 17th to 21st October 2022. The Primary Wing students made beautiful pledge cards with the message 'SAY NO TO CRACKERS' & 'USE EARTHEN DIYAS'. The Tiny Tots celebrated Diwali in the right spirit by exchanging green plants with each other & also gifting the same to the Principal, OS & Headmistress.

A Painting Competition on Eco- friendly Diwali was organised for classes VI- VIII on the topics 'Light the Candle of Patriotism,Save the Energy of the Nation', ' Let's make a world of dreams by creating rule of energy saving', ' Let's write the future,Switch to Electrical Vehicle' & 'Let's rise and complete our duty, Save Energy For Nation'. Various other activities such as 'Diya making & Decoration' , ' Poster Making', ' Slogan Writing' & Extempore , were organised for all classes.
The message of celebrating a Green Diwali' was reinforced by the Principal,teachers & students. Children were urged to act responsibly & be sensitive towards the essence of their environment & safety of animals. Speakers apprised the audience about the adverse effects of fireworks.
The School wore a festive look with beautiful rangolis,decorated pots,diyas & lanterns adorning the classrooms & corridors of the school.

RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS

' National Unity Day' was celebrated with great fervor on 31October,2022. Students from classes IX-XII participated enthusiastically in the Unity March organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, at India Gate, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The participants paid their tribute to the Iron Man of India by carrying placards & banners with slogans of Unity & Togetherness & their pledge to work with sincerity & purpose for a strong & developed India.

In a bit to promote oratory skills and confidence in the students, an Inter Class Poetry Recitation Competition was held for Nursery on Thursday, 1st September 2022.

The Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India celebrated' Rashtriya Poshan Maah' , on 12 September 2022, wherein, a pledge on 'BACHA and SHIKSHA' was taken by the School Principal Ms. Mandeep Kaur and students of classes IX -XII . The aim of Poshan Abhiyan is to address the challenge of mal nutrition in a mission mode, concentrating towards the common goal of good nutrition for women and children ,in order to realise the vision of Swasth Bharat"

To commemorate the martyrdom of 21 Sikh Soldiers in the battle of Saragarhi fought on September 12,1897 & to create awareness amongst students about its relevance in Indian history, an Inter - House Declamation Competition was organized for classes IX - XI, on the topic "Saragarhi War", in the school premises. The students participated keenly & expressed their thoughts on the spirit of Fateh & Sacrifice displayed by the Sikh Soldiers,in one of the fiercest battle ever fought. The First Position was bagged by Palakjot Kaur & Mehakpreet Kaur secured the Second Position. A short movie on "Saragarhi Jung" was shown to students with an aim to teach them the value of taking on challenges despite risks & feel proud of Punjab's history.

Students of today are the visionaries & torch bearers of tomorrow. GHPS,India Gate held its INVESTITURE CEREMONY on 14th September 2022 with great enthusiasm bestowing responsibilities on the deserving young leaders of the school. The school prefectorial board was formed after scrutinous interviewing & selection. The event began with the recital of shabad by the school choir.Then,the School Principal,Ms.Mandeep Kaur administered the oath to the newly elected 'Prefectorial Body' who pledged to work earnestly& uphold the honor & glory of the institution.The pride & sense of dedication in their voices was palpable.They were conferred with badges, certificates & turbans,dupattas & ties of royal blue color-- a symbol of authority, trust & confidence. In his address, the Chief Guest,Sardar Amarjeet Singh Pinki(Chairman GHPS,India Gate) congratulated the newly appointed School Prefectorial Board including Pawanjeet Singh(Head Boy), Chanasis kaur(Head Girl)along with House Captains, Music Captain,Sports Captain, Divinity& CCA Co-ordinators & Prefects. The School Principal blessed the student leaders & motivated them to make their vision clear for the achievement of their goal & perform their duties with full dedication. With the flags held high & heads standing tall,the ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.

RICH TRIBUTES TO BHAI KANHAIYAJI

GHPS,India Gate celebrated "MAANAV SEWA DIWAS" with obeisance on 20September2022, paying rich tributes to a saintly Sikh Bhai Kanhaiyaji ,for his silent services in providing succour to the wounded during pre-independence days without any discrimination of religion or affiliation. A special programme was conducted to mark the occasion, starting with the recital of Shabad on Sewa. Participating in the event , students from classes VI-VIII, narrated the contribution made by Bhai Kanhaiyaji in fostering universal brotherhood. In her address,the School Principal,Ms.Mandeep Kaur, motivated the students &staff to serve humanity selflessly& with complete dedication & to open minds to see divinity in all beings. She also highlighted the biography of Bhai Kanhaiyaji- the apostle of peace & how he waged peace in battle to transform enemy hearts & root out the hatred. The programme concluded with a strong message conveyed by Mr.Swarn Singh,the Divinity teacher to carry on the mission of service by following the example of Bhai Kanhaiyaji, in the years to come & keep the tradition of service to humanity alive. A detailed depiction of Bhai Kanhaiyaji's spiritual profile was circulated in video form,in all class groups & shown to students.

'Every child is an artist'
To invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of students and promote awareness about the Indian National Flag, various activities and competitions were organised for classes VI and VII on 5th August, 2022. The children showcased their creative skills in the drawing and slogan writing competition on the theme Har Ghar Tiranga and the result was amazing art work. This fun filled activity witnessed an enthusiastic participation by each student.

The student's creativity and talent was portrayed through the Exhibition organised on 6th August 2022. at the second Parent Teacher Meet in school. The beautiful charts, models, projects and files related with subjects were displayed and highly appreciated by the parents and other visitors .

The tiny tots of Nursery celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan by tying rakhis, exchanging gifts and offering sweets to one another.

Keeping in spirit with the celebration of the 75th year of independence, Class 1 students enjoyed the day decorating tricolor kites.

An inter house sweet making competition was organized for senior segment on the eve of Raksha Bandhan,on 10th August 2022. Four students from each house prepared 2 sweets without fire. The students of all the four houses were at their best & showed their cooking skills which was beyond the imagination of anyone. The mouth watering delicacies made by our young chefs included Chocolate Balls, Nariyal laddos, Oreo Modak Bread Rose Mithai & Coconut Peda.

"POETRY IS THE RHYTHMICAL CREATION OF BEAUTY IN WORDS"

An inter-house Poetry Recitation Competition was organized on 12th August 2022,at the school's conference room for the students of middle segment under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. The students enthusiastically participated in the competition & were judged on the parameters of confidence, memorization, intonation & over all performance. The judges appreciated & applauded the performance of the participants & the feeling of patriotism filled the air with affection & respect for the motherland

Our school celebrated 75th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and zeal.The celebration commenced with the powerful rendition of School Shabad.National flag was hoisted by the School Chairman S.Amarjeet Singh Pinky.Our school Principal Ms.Mandeep Kaur extended a warm welcome to the School Chairman and other distinguished guests and inspired students to be responsible citizens.Action Song of Pre nursery and little patriots of Nursery left everyone spellbound .Speech , poem , patriotic song and dance were all based on the prevalent theme of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav ‘.School Chairman appreciated and applauded the efforts of the students and the teachers for showcasing love for the country.Guest of honour on the occasion S. Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with full fervor on 18 August 2022 by the Nursery wing. The little ones looked adorable dressed as Krishna,Radha & the Gopis & added a traditional touch to the entire celebrations when they danced to the beat of Janmashtami songs, filling the air with joy & festive spirit.

On the eve of SARAGARHI DAY, various Inter -House activities & competitions were conducted for students of classes VI- X. Students paid homage to all heroes of Saragarhi battle by writing catchy slogans & making beautiful posters, depicting the bravery & indomitable courage of the soldiers. The military history was revived in the Essay writing competition in which the students of ClassX put forth their views on the acts of valour shown by the Sikh jawans during the battle of Saragarhi and inspired everyone to come forward for national service. The Position holders of Essay Writing Competition were Manushri kaur, Harneet kaur & Shivika Chauhan. In the Slogan Writing Competition, Manpreet kaur, Jhalak Kanojia & Bhavi Pannu got the Ist, IInd & IIIrd Positions respectively.

The tiny tots of Nursery class took part in the plantation activity , in which the students sowed plants and gave their favourite name to each sapling. They also gifted a plant to the Principal and Headmistress.

An Inter School Band Competition 2022 was organized at Zonal level on 1st September 2022, to inculcate the spirit of patriotism & unity among school students. Our school not only hosted the event but also participated with full vigour & enthusiasm. The amazing performance of the team was highly appreciated by the jury members-Ms Pooja Arora from GHPS Kalkaji & Mr.Gauravpal Singh from Sisganj khalsa School, Chandni Chowk. Our team secured the FIRST POSITION & was adjudged on the basis of costume, creativity, cohesiveness, musicianship, formation & drill. The School Principal congratulated the team.

'Bala Pritam-GHPS Inter School Badminton Meet 2022' was organised at GHPS Sports Complex Hari Nagar, under the aegis of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee from 30th August2022 - 1st September 2022. The School's Girls Team participated enthusiastically in the competition & secured FIRST POSITION .

In Mix Doubles Category,our young contestants showed tactical brilliance & flexibility and bagged FIRST POSITION. The tiny tots of school visited Gurudwara Sahib with covered head, joined hands & sparkling eyes & bowed down with respect in front of Sri Guru Granth Sahibji. GHPS, India Gate celebrated the day with a Special Assembly followed by recital of JAPJI SAHIB Paath by all students & Staff. The students celebrated the founder's day with great fervor & zeal by making Collage & Posters, showing their gratitude to the founding fathers of the school.

An Inter House "Live Science Experiments" Competition was held for Classes 4 & 5 on Wednesday, 20th July 2022 in order to promote scientific temperament among students at a young age. The students performed the experiments in front of the judges, explaining the concepts behind the action and reaction that took place in the experiment.

Saakhis are a way of staying personally & deeply connected to Sikh history. On the eve of Gurpurab of Guru Harkrishan Sahibji 'Inter House Saakhi Telling' competition was organized for classes VI- VIII. Students participated enthusiastically & devotionally, narrating beautiful Saakhis on the life & teachings of Guru Harkrishan Sahibji. The first & second positions were taken by Baba Jujhar Singh & Baba Zorawar Singh House respectively. The winners of the competition were Bhavneet kaur from class VIII-A & Manandeep Singh from class VIII-B.
For classes IX & X, Inter House Chart Making Competition was organised. Two students from each House participated & showed their talent & creativity with various colours& designs. Pranjal Gola from BAjit Singh House & Harshita Gupta from B.Fateh Singh House were declared winners for this event.

The Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Harkrishan Sahibji was celebrated with great pride, honor & respect on 29th July 2022, in the school premises. The spiritual ambience of soulful Shabad Kirtan, Poems & Sakhis chanted by the students not only sparked a religious fervor in air but also nourished & relaxed each soul. The programme commenced with the samapti of SAHAJ PATH in the presence of Principal, Staff & Students of the school. S.Harmeet Singh Kalkaji extended his greetings on this auspicious occasion & enlightened the students on how Guru Harkrishan Sahibji dispelled the sufferings of the people during an epidemic in Delhi. S.Amarjeet Singh Pinkiji apprised the students about the significance of gurpurab & teachings of our founder Guru - Guru Harkrishan Sahibji. The School Principal, Mrs Mandeep kaur, proposed a vote of thanks & appreciated the efforts put in by the staff & students & gave the message of universal brotherhood. After the culmination of the programme ,the traditional Guru-Ka-Langar was served to all.

International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 21st June 2022,on the digital platform.The idea was to recognize & respect this ancient practice of Yoga ,which plays an important role in relaxing the mind& body and boosting immune system.. The students & staff members exhibited different Yoga Postures like Pranayama, Anuloma and Viloma, Meditation & Relaxation with Laughter Yoga. Children made videos on different aspects of Yoga & designed beautiful e-posters depicting its benefits. An online quiz was also conducted by ZEE MIND WARS for students of classes 4th to 12th as Yoga Day Special.

To celebrate the rich cultural heritage of India and stimulate interest amongst the young generation, the Indian Oil Corporation in collaboration with the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and the Ministry of Culture ,organized the largest ever online Heritage quiz -JIGYASA , as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. Students from classes7th to 12th participated enthusiastically in the pre-qualifier round & received online certificates and other exciting rewards. The qualifying students will be participating in the District round, State round, Regional round & eventually the National round.

Punjabi Calligraphy Competition was held on 4 May 2022 from classes VI to X in the school. Students presented the quotation artistcally.

Students of Class 5 visited the Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Holographic Auditorium and International Centre for Sikh Studies, Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, New Delhi on Monday, 9th May 2022.

Guru Harkrishan Public School, India Gate, celebrated 9th May to 13th May 2022 as YOGA WEEK in the school. As a part of the celebration of the 8th International Day of Yoga and as directed by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, several activities were undertaken by the students in the school. Even the tiny tots of Pre- Nursery and Nursery were introduced to the concept of yoga which they thoroughly enjoyed. Class 4 and 5 took part in the Clay Modelling activity in which they made their favourite yoga poses with clay. Not to be left behind, the staff too had a yoga session on the morning of 10th May 2022 conducted by Mr. Vinod, our Accountancy teacher and an avid yoga fan. Students were given a talk on the importance and benefits of yoga by Mr. Vinod and videos was shown to kindle an interest among them to make yoga a way of life. A Yoga Logo was created with the help of the Art teacher and paper bags with yoga theme were created by the students in the CCA period. Slogan writing and Poster making activities also became a part of the celebration.

Preparedness is the calm before, during after the storm.
Mock drill on earthquake were executed for the entire school to create awareness and preparedness during calamities on 12 May 2022. The students were trained to be alert quick and responsible, follow instructions, maintain calm and avoid panic to avert stampede and casualities. The main aim of the drill was to build courage and confidence amongst students and develop leadership skills. The staff members positioned themselves at pre decided vantage points to guide and assess the students as soon as buzzer buzz’s. The students under cover themselves and then quickly moved out in proper lines. They were evacuated from the school building in 3 minutes and 50 seconds as regular evacuation drill are being conducted. Student are trained to reach the safe designated areas allocated for each class in case of any emergency. Head count was done by the class teacher to ensure the presence of everyone. Special training has been imported to the staff members to handle crisis and give first aid relief if required. An earthquake drill and preparedness activity conducted to apprise everyone on how to perform Drop cover and hold on. The drill focused on activation of the full response system, incorporate decision making and life safety aspect.

Our school believes in the holistic development of students. To ensure that learners excel in all avenues ,Summer Camp was organised in the school premises w.e.f 23 May 2022 to 27 May 2022.Our scholars learnt to explore through fun filled activities like creative writing, calligraphy,painting,coding,robotics,bhangra. gidda,etc.Students also learnt the ancient martial art of Sikh Gurus ‘Gatka’ to exercise self control.It provided a unique platform infusing joy with knowledge. The camp culminated with distribution of Guru ka Langar and Chabeel to mark the martyrdom of fifth guru Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji.

In adherance with the teachings of our gurus - "Pawan guru pani pita, Mata dharat mahat" Guru Harkrishan Public School, India Gate has always been a leader when it comes to protecting the environment. The students of the school took a pledge on contributing to create a clean and plastic free India and also to not use single use plastic anymore for everyone's secure and bright future. The students made various posters highlighting their feelings regarding the same. They were also asked to watch and select short videos and make an effort to make documentary clips on the same during the vacation.

Guru Harkrishan Public School,India Gate reopened for the session 2022_2023 on 6 April 2022. Students were welcomed and escorted to the classrooms by their class teachers following strict COVID-19 safety protocols. The Principal, Ms. Mandeep Kaur visited all classes and apprised students of the norms to be followed. Wearing a mask, carrying sanitisers and maintaining social distancing were reiterated. She motivated them and appreciated the efforts of students and parents to move on positively and enthusiastically.

Orientation Session was held for the parents of Pre Nursery and Nursery on 7th and 8th April 2022 respectively. Parents were called in small groups section wise so that individual attention be given to each and their queries satisfied. The parents were introduced to the school and various guidelines were shared with them so that their journey with us is smooth and hassle free. The efforts of the school to make them feel comfortable was appreciated by one and all.


With the aim to imbibe values and ethos of our culture and community, GHPS India Gate celebrated Baisakhi in the school premises with fervour and gaiety. Baisakhi marks the harvest festival and the foundation of Khalsa panth by the tenth Guru,Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. A special assembly was organised on the occasion in which a speech and thought were presented by the students . Inter House Turban Tying Competition was also held to add zeal to the festival .Damanpreet Singh of 9C Baba Fateh Singh House and Jagjit Singh 10 A Baba Jujhar Singh House bagged the first and second position respectively. The principal, Mrs Mandeep Kaur congratulated the winners and wished everyone a very Happy Baisakhi.

The school wished good luck and goodbye to the outgoing class XII students on 1st Feb 2020. The program commenced as Best Wishes Day by invoking the blessings of Almighty, bhog of Sahaj Paath followed by Shabad rendition by School choir. The school chairman,S. Amarjeet Singh ji Pinky graced the occasion. School chairman, Principal Ms Mandeep Kaur and Vice Principal Ms H.K. Walia conferred sashes with a title to the students of class XII and wished them good luck, success and bright future. The day ended on a nostalgic note with the senior most class leaving the school but at the same time taking with them joyous memories.

ISA project started in January in collaboration with Afghanistan ,Nigeria and Germany. This activity gave an opportunity to the students of class 6 and 7 to explore folk dances of our partner countries. They did research and prepared project files. Inter- house competitions and declamation competition were also organized. The students understood the importance of physical and mental fitness which can be obtained from dance. They presented a fusion dance of India and the partner countries on 3rd Feb. 2020.

Abacus National level championship was held on 26 November 2019. Ansh Varun of class 2B was declared the National Champion. He was awarded with a cash price of Rs. 5100. Bhavneet Kaur of class 5A got first position in Divinity Zonal Competition (Naitik Shiksha) and was awarded with a cash price of Rs. 1500. Manandeep of class 5 B got third position in Divinity Zonal Competition (Naitik Shiksha) and was awarded with a cash price of Rs. 1000.

Inter-House Sandwich Making Competition by the primary segment was held on 5th February 2020.

Poetry Recitation in Nepali under Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat initiative was conducted on 5 Feb. 2020. The following students are the winners.

    ISA project, a fusion dance of Sikkim and Delhi was presented by the students of class IV on 16 Feb 2020. Delhi and Sikkim are the partner countries in this project.

    Certificates were given to the winners of various Inter-House Competitions held in Primary segment on 16 Feb 2020.

    Vice- Principal Ms. H.K Walia and headmistress Ms. Gurmeet kaur Virdi attended the Principal's meet at Hyatt Regency on 6 February 2020 organized by Times of India.

    Workshop on Learning Skills, Memorizing techniques and Mind Power was organised in the school for class 10th students. We were privileged to have Mr Satyendra Prakash Malieyvar as resource person who worked as Deputy Education officer in District central and New Delhi He motivated and guided the students through presentation on learning skills and Memorizing techniques. He also encouraged them to adopt the Strategies for success in exam. He introduced the students to the ways which will enhance their self confidence and determination. It was very inspiring session.

    Students of class V successfully completed project You Care I Cure- Green Medicines . They were engaged in various activities like visiting the school garden and identifying the plants growing there and internet based research was conducted by the students on various plants used for their medicinal value in India , China, England and France. A doctor's garden was also developed in which the students sowed good seeds, planted saplings of medicinal plants and tended them daily. A survey was conducted in their respective neighborhood helped the children to find the percentage of believers and non believers in the medicinal value of plants.

    The 73rd Republic Day was celebrated with great honour & pride. The students of GHPS,INDIA GATE, took to online platform by actively participating in various activities & events. Students from classes VI-X recorded & shared their videos, showcasing the history & significance of Republic, with powerful dialogues on freedom fighters /warriors & classical dance forms. The drawings & posters on Republic day displayed the creativity & patriotic spirit of each student. Little hands & imaginative minds came together in different craft products & models prepared by students using reusable & recyclable materials like newspapers, shoe boxes, bangles, ice cream sticks & much more, which will be showcased on RDC website.

    Activity - Decoration of National flag (Tiranga) To infuse the spirit of unity and patriotism, activity was conducted in Class 1 .They made and decorated the national flag with their own creativity .

    AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV: POST CARD CAMPAIGN

    Students from classes IV-XII participated in the Post Card Writing Campaign from Dec I,2021 to Dec20,2021 , as a part of ongoing celebrations of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, on the topics" Unsung Heroes of Freedom Struggle " & " My Vision for India in 2047". The students presented innovative thoughts & unique ideas in the post cards which were sent to the Honourable Prime Minister of India

    A 'Gift Wrapping Activity' was organised for Class I students as the festivel season is going on. The students participated enthusiastically in this fun-filled activity, displaying creativity, love &care towards their dear ones by wrapping gifts in colourful papers with their own tiny hands.

    The 552nd Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak Devji was celebrated with great exuberance at School's Gurudwara Sahib,on 19th November2021. A special programme was conducted by the school students &staff to mark the occasion.The School's Music Department tied all in one thread of obeisance by reciting Shabad-Gurbani & Sakhis.

    The School Chairman, S. Amarjit Singh Pinky paid homage to the Guru & highlighted the valuable teachings of Guru Nanak Devji in his message. The School Principal , Sardarni Mandeep Kaur,encouraged students to follow the path of sikhism & imbibe the values of patience, tolerance, honesty & sharing.

    On the auspicious occasion of Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak Devji, a virtual placard making & slogan writing competition was organised. Students from classes VI-XII took keen interest & made creative placards disseminating information about the life & teachings of Guru Nanak Devji.

    Nimai Verma,a student of Class XI, brought laurels for the school by penning a book entitled 'FROM WULF TO WOOLF', which traces British English Literary history from Beowulf to Virginia Woolf. Consisting of nine chapters, it aims to assist humanities & literature students in their research. He had been working on the same since the beginning of the pandemic & is now published & available on Amazon India.Nimai also bagged Silver badge in NPTEL online certification. The Principal, staff & students congratulated Nimai Verma for bringing out his maiden book & setting an example for other budding writers.

    A webinar for teachers was organised by 'VIA:Global Road Safety Education' on 24 October,2020, which was attended by 65 teachers,and the Headmistress,Ms Gurmeet Kaur Virdi. It was a highly educative,informative and interactive training session which focussed on teaching children,especially in the age group of 10--14, safe behaviour in traffic and learning how to avoid accidents while walking and cycling on the road.

    The students of GHPS, India Gate, engaged in an extraordinary activity of Puppetry Making on 8 Sept 2021 This activity involved mass participation from Class I & proved to be a true learning experience. Each participant drew their favourite thing & converted it into the popsicle stick puppet using ice-cream sticks.Students enjoyed using their puppets as book markers,too.

    A Webinar was conducted on 16th September 2021 to observe World Ozone Day. The science teachers i.e. Mrs Randeep Kaur, Mrs Pushpinder Kaur and Ms Varsha conducted this webinar with their respective students of class 9 to create awareness about the Ozone layer and its importance. About 87 students participated in the session. The theme of World Ozone Day 2021- " Ozone for Life: 36 Years of Ozone Layer Protection" was shared with the students. A PowerPoint Presentation on this topic was shown to the students. Effects of ozone layer depletion were pointed out. The students were astonished to know about the possible harms to human health and environment if UV radiations reach the Earth in absence of Ozone layer. Solutions to this problem- both at personal level as well as at global level were also discussed. It was a very interactive session wherein the students took an active part by asking questions and seeking more information. The webinar ended on everyone taking a pledge to do their bit in protecting the ozone layer.

    Guru Harkrishan public school, India Gate, celebrated Poshan Abiyan . Students were encouraged to grow different kind of plants ie herbal, medicinal and edible .Due to Covid 19 ,they planted these at home .They showed their plants in online class .A discussion on their benefits and nutritive value enlightened them. They were excited and shared their planting experiences.

    On the occasion of the 365th Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Harkrishan Sahibji, a 'Gurpurab Samagam' was organised on 11th August,2021 in the school gurudwara sahib , strictly following the Covid-19 guidelines. Bhog ceremony of 'Sahaj Path' was carried with complete ritual followed by rendition of Shabad Gurbani, Sakhis &Speeches. Keeping the sanctity & divinity of the day alive, the samagam was attended by the School Chairman, S.Amarjit Singh Pinki & other members of DSGMC. The School Chairman extended his greetings on this special occasion and gave the message of universal brotherhood .The School Principal, Sardarni. Mandeep Kaur , appreciated the unparalled zeal with which the students participated in virtual Gurpurab celebrations and the staff members who didn't let lockdown dampen their spirits &participated with full religious fervour to complete the Sahaj Path.

    AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV To mark India's 75th Independence Day, the Ministry of Culture took a unique initiative 'Rashtragaan', to set a record of the maximum number of Indians singing the National Anthem together. Each student of GHPS,India Gate, participated enthusiastically by recording & uploading their videos on the government 's portal rashtragaan.in, showing evidence of not only love for their country but also displaying their unity, strength & harmony.

    As part of India's Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations---the 75th Anniversary of Independence, a host of activities were organised by the Government of India & CBSE. Students from classes VI-XII participated in the online 'Poster -Making' &'Slogan Writing' competitions with immense zeal &enthusiasm giving the message of brotherhood &hope to the entire humanity. The tiny toddlers from primary wing revived the spirit of freedom through Role play activity on Great Indian Freedom Fighters.



    Rakhi Making Activity was taken up for class 2nd students on 19.08.2021. Students actively participated and made beautiful Rakhies using materials found at home itself. They enjoyed the activity.

    The International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on June21,2021.     Mother's Day is a special day of the year, dedicated to all mothers. It celebrates the bond of love and affection between a mother and her child. Keeping this bonding emotion in mind, card and poster making competition was organized online on 10 May 2020. The students were given an opportunity to show their appreciation for their mother. They made beautiful cards and posters. They even drew the pictures of their mother and wrote short poems. The creativity of the students was highly appreciated by the Principal Ms Mandeep Kaur.

The 355th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji was commemorated with great pride, honour & gusto on Wednesday, 20th January,2021. There was a virtual celebration by students & staff throwing light on Guru ji's dedication to god, his fearlessness and his desire to protect the people from being oppressed. Students from middle & senior segment disseminated information , about the life and teachings of Guru Gobind Singh ji , by narrating "sakhis", poems, shabads & quotes . The school Principal, Ms Mandeep Kaur, and Vice-Principal, Ms Harbans Kaur Walia, wished a happy Gurpurab to all and inspired everyone to follow the path of righteousness and honesty.




VIRTUAL REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS

The students,staff & Faculty members celebrated the 72nd Republic Day , with full dedication & patriotic fervour ,on 26January2021. The students paid their tribute to the motherland by participating in various online activities organised by school like card making, drawing pictures of national flag , bird &freedom fighters,making tri-coloured paper flowers,Historical monuments, singing/dancing on patriotic songs, enacting skits . The videos ,shared by students of all classes , gave a glimpse of the unity in diversity--the beauty of our country.

Students of Nursery enjoyed a novel experience when they participated in the activity - Role Play. Their enthusiasm was writ large on their bright faces.The students became Fashion Designers, Policemen, Architects, Reporters, Seamstresses, Engineers to name a few.


The students of GHPS,INDIA GATE,celebrated eco friendly Diwali by ' Saying No to Crackers'. Students from all classes participated enthusiastically in the 'Green Diwali Week' by making colourful rangolis, writing creative captions/slogans on ways to celebrate Diwali and designing posters portraying any environmental issue.

A virtual diwali celebrated by the student of Nursery. Students wore traditional and theme based clothes/cosplay from the Ramayana. Everyone spoke few lines about their character roles; learnt how to make Diya holder using bangles. All the students cherished and were fully enthusiastic while learning.

The teachers were overwhelmed with the effort of each & every student.

The students of Classes IX--X completed an ISA project on 'Effect of Advertisements' in the months of December to February.Fired with the zeal to acheive the coveted goal of ISA, the students, under the guidance of their teachers, carried out net based research on the pros and cons of advertisements on teenagers and exchanged their knowledgein the form of ppts.The oratory skills and enthusiasm of students was evident in the debate and survey conducted as part of ISA action plan. The Skit & Posters made by students further highlighted the advertisements and their role in shaping the ever changing norms of society,both nationally and globally. This project enhanced the team spirit, IT& communication skills and above all , reaffirmed the infallibility of group work. It had been a very encouraging, educative & exciting experience for the students as well as staff members involved.

Independence Day Celebrations at school often mean a beautiful decorated campus, students proudly singing the national anthem and looking forward to cultural performances. But this year, the school opted a virtual route to celebrate the 74th Independence Day and patriotism found a digital expression. Different activities were held on this occasion in Primary, Middle and senior classes. They exhibited their talent by participating in fancy dress, poster making, fireless cooking, drawing competition and patriotic songs. Principal Ms. Mandeep Kaur lauded the efforts made by the students.

Poster Making Competition was was conducted online on 13 August 2020. All students of Primary & Middle Segment participated in the competition. The theme of the Poster Making was My India , My Pride and Independence Day.

The International School Award Project - REDD (Rupee, Euro, Dirham, Dollar) was successfully completed by the students of classes I and II. The project started with an introductory online session in which the students were briefed about the project through PPT.s on the currencies under study. Thereafter, the students did extensive research in groups and find out the denominations, signatories, emblems, pictures / symbols on the understudy currencies. They presented their research in tabular form. Students were able to solve the worksheets on their own. Online jigsaw puzzle competition 'Sabse Bada Rupaiya' was conducted where students participated exhibiting lots of fervour and endeavour. Overall, it was an enlightening and informative journey for the students of Class I and II.

The students of Class V of Guru Harkrishan Public School successfully completed the ISA Project YOU CARE, I CURE- GREEN MEDICINES. The activity aimed at making the children learn about the medicinal value of plants. Under the project, the students were engaged in various activities. The project began with the visit to the school garden where the students were asked to identify and name the plants growing there. An internet based research was done and the students prepared Project Files making them aware of the medicinal value of plants. There after, they made a ‘Doctor’s Garden’ in which they sowed seeds and planted saplings of medicinal plants and tended them daily. The presentation by the students in the Morning Assembly emphasised not only the benefits of these medicinal plants for common ailments but also how to grow and care for them in their homes. The students also conducted a survey in their neighborhood to find the percentage of believers and non believers in the medicinal value of plants. MCQ worksheets were given to the students based on their research to evaluate their learning.

Guru Harkrishan Public School, India Gate, has completed its glorious 55 years on 19 July 2020. It has always maintained its glory by getting accredited with the coveted British Council International School Award and the Swachh School Award. The “Mitre Pyaare” Alumni Association and the Indo-German Student Exchange Program were initiated. Securing excellent board results every year, the school students also excel in the co-curricular activities and sports as well. Students fetch medals at the international and national level in cycling, athletics and gymnastics. The school has been a forerunner in campaigning for social causes such as “Ban Sikh Jokes”, “Say No to Crackers”, “Violence Against Women”, “Go Green Plantation Drives” and many more social outreach programs. The school Principal, Ms. Mandeep Kaur inspires the students to abide by the principles laid down by our reverend Gurus and encourages them to be good human beings. She is confident that both these staff and students are fully empowered to scale all heights with faith, confidence, determination and positivity. Even the parents are always eager to extend their support and cooperation.

On the auspicious occasion of the Prakash Purab of our eighth Guru ,Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib ji, many competitions were conducted online. All the students participated and exhibited their talent by reciting poems and Sakhi on the life of Guru ji. They wrote essays and poems on the history and importance of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib Ji.

Primary segment

To inculcate the feeling of respect for national symbols our intellects of class 3 and 4 successfully completed the International School Award Project on "National Symbols - Every Nation's Pride". The project started with PowerPoint Presentation on national symbols of India. Thereafter, the students did extensive research on the flags of India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Nigeria. They found out about the shape, size, color and the meaning of each color in the flag. They also worked on national anthems of respective countries where they found out about the time duration of the anthem, the posture to be maintained while singing the national anthem, and what does the anthem talk about. They presented their research through beautiful and creative scrapbooks and charts. Their Knowledge or learning was assessed through online quiz and worksheets. The visit to Gandhi Museum acquainted students about the historical connections of their national flag 'Tiranga' with Gandhi Ji. This memorable visit to the Museum was all on all a novel, enriching and enjoyable experience. In conclusion, the project was an informative and interesting venture for students as well as for teachers.

Encouraged by the tremendous success of its 17 camps held in India in the past 16 years, IIGS offers great opportunities to Young Sikh boys and girls from all over India and abroad to come and learn about their great Sikh Heritage, history and culture. 24 students along with two teachers participated in this Camp at Dehradun from 15 June to 23rd June 2019.

With the school closed due to corona pandemic, the Principal Ms. Mandeep Kaur instructed the teachers to switch to online teaching through Zoom app so that the students do not miss out on their academics. The teachers started teaching their assigned classes online from 25th March 2020. Students can join the class at the scheduled time setup by a particular teacher. If they have any issues or questions, they can consult with the corresponding teacher. They have been given assignments daily. This way, the students are utilizing their time fruitfully.

"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" - In this time of lockdown where all outside activities have been suspended, the tiny tots of our primary segment are making an attempt to boost their physical health and immunity by doing physical exercises, Yoga and Zoomba, in accordance with the directions given by Mr. Amit, their Physical Education teacher.

Baisakhi is celebrated in the school premises every year with great religious fervor. However, this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, these festivities were shifted online. The school principal, Ms. Mandeep Kaur appreciated the efforts of the students for actively participating in the competition and keeping the religious spirit alive despite the changed situation.
Students of classes 6th, 7th, 8 th and 9th drew pictures of 5 kakkars, made Baisakhi greeting cards and wrote a brief description on Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Khalsa Panth. The following pictures showcase the creativity of the students.



The school celebrated Prakash Purab of Guru Angad Dev Ji as Gurmukhi Diwas on 24th April 2020. All the students of classes IV to VIII participated whole-heartedly in the essay writing competition on the topic "Guru Angad Dev Ji's life, his teachings and his standardizing the Gurmukhi script". School Principal Ms. Mandeep Kaur encouraged the students to emulate the teachings of the Guruji and become better citizens. She also appreciated the efforts of the Punjabi teachers to make this competition a success.

An interactive motivational workshop on the topic Joyful Learning For Students was conducted in the school premises on 13 January 2020. It was conducted by Mr. S.S. Chadha, retd. Quality Assurance Director and Ms. Bhupender Kaur, working in Army Essence of Smile Wellness Centre. Students of classes 8 and 9 attended the workshop. The resource persons apprised the students about the purpose of their life and how to become a good human being. They encouraged them to inculcate the qualities of God- love, kindness and smile in their lives. Mr. Chadha laid stress on self confidence and determination. It was a very inspiring session.

Pariksha Pe Charcha 2020 was held on 20 January 2020 at Talkatora Stadium Delhi in which our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi interacted with the students and answered their questions on examination related stress. The event sought to not only take away the stress of students appearing in examination but also offered a unique opportunity to meet the Prime Minister and ask him questions face to face. Our School also made necessary arrangements for enabling the students of classes 9 , 11, teachers and parent to watch the live broadcast of the event on Doordarshan. This program was very enriching and inspiring for the students.


To imbibe the true spirit of learning and enhance effective communication skills, Inter-House English Extempore competition on Sikkim was organised on 22nd Jan 2020. The students spoke eloquently on the topic. The event was a great learning experience for the students as they learnt to express their views and opinions spontaneously. Inter-House English Story Telling Competition was held in the primary segment. on 22.1.2020

The school celebrated 71st Republic Day with great zeal & patriotic fervour. The Programme commenced by Invoking the blessing of Almighty. National Flag 'The Tricolour' was unfurled by the Principal, Mrs Mandeep Kaur, followed by National Anthem. The students in their vibrant attire rendered patriotic songs glorifying the sacrifices by the valiant soldiers during the freedom struggle. The whole atmosphere resonated with patriotism. The budding Primary dancers, spreading the message of togetherness and brotherhood, rocked the show. The School Principal Mrs. Mandeep Kaur appreciated the performance of the students.


Fancy Dress Competition in primary segment was held on 29 January 2020. The students were dressed up as freedom fighters. They recited few lines about the National flag.

Vasant Panchami is an occasion which marks the advent of the spring season. The day was celebrated in the school with great fervour and enthusiasm on 30th January 2020. Yellow colour -representative of spiritual knowledge, is given importance on Vasant Panchami. The dress code of the teachers on this day was also yellow. The whole School assembled in the Assembly ground. Prasad (Yellow Sweet Rice) was distributed among the children. They enjoyed the day thoroughly.




As a part of ISA action plan students of classes 6 and 7of GHPS India Gate planned and executed a project ,FOLK FIESTA.To instil a global dimension into learning experience students were engaged in a plethora of activities to explore the folk dances and culture of participating countries-Afghanistan ,Nigeria, Germany and India. The journey exposed them to the nuances of choreography and improved their net-based research and collaborative skills. Keen learners gained an understanding about the diversity in culture across the planet through participation in folk dance and fusion dance. Declamation contest enhanced their public speaking and presentation skills. Befitting finale as Quiz involved cooperative learning and critical skills. Students were assessed on their learning about dances and culture of participant countries. Zealous fervour was evident in both teachers and students as the programme gave them a unique opportunity to update and appreciate the differences in cultures.

Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar kirtan, the religious procession, under the aegis of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, was organised on Wednesday 1 st December 2019. The Nagar Kirtan commenced from Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, Old Delhi and terminated at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, New Delhi. All the branches of GHPS and other Sikh schools were part of this religious procession. Class 10 students and prefects of classes 11 and 12 of our school marched in the Nagar Kirtan Engulfed with festive gaiety, the students and teachers travelled a few kilometres across the city carrying placards with different slogans to save Mother Earth and teachings of Guru Ji.

A workshop for students of class 7 was organised on 3rd December 2019 in the school premises by Ms. Seema Malhotra. She addressed the children on the issue of sexual harassment. She discussed the problems and made children aware about the ways and techniques they can utilise while facing these situations. It was an interactive learning experience for the students.

A workshop on Memorization Skills was organised in the school for the students of classes 10 and 11 on 5th December 2019. It was conducted by Mr Gagandeep Singh Arora, a motivational speaker and competent trainer. He gave students unique and useful tips to learn and memorize. He used visualisation and brain gym techniques to teach students periodic table in an interesting manner weaving a captivating story. It was a useful and enriching learning experience for students.

The Principal Ms. Mandeep Kaur and the Headmistress Ms.Gurmeet Kaur Virdi gave away certificates to the winners of various Inter House Competitions.

A workshop on Online Safety For Women was organised in Heritage school, Vasant Kunj on 13 December 2019. It was organised by government of India to empower women on online safety. Resource person Mr. Rakshit Tandon, an advisory with cyber crime investigation, discussed about the problems faced by the women like stalking, mobile hacking , online scams , bank fraud etc while working online and suggested measures to avoid them.

A live streaming of dialogue of Honourable Chief Ministers of Delhi Mr. Arvinder Kejriwal with the students of Government, Govt. Aided, Unaided and recognised schools on the Women’s Safety was organised in the school premises on 23rd December 2019. The Chief Minister raised the issue of increasing incidents of sexual violence against women in different parts of the country. He emphasised on the need to engaged girls to talk to male members in the family to ensure non-indulgence in the inhuman acts of sexual assault. Girls were further instructed to address the boys to pledge not to inflict any verbal or physical violence on women. The program which was witnessed by 22 lakh school students aimed to restore honour among girls to prepare boys to stop any kind of sexual assault including Eve teasing.

A combined exhibition by Mathematics and Computer Department of the school was organised in the school premises on 20th December 2019. It depicted various concepts of Maths in a simple and easy learning ways which included areas of cross roads, interesting calendar patterns, properties of a circle, relationship between circumference and diameter of a circle.The following models were prepared by the students for computer exhibition- uses of computer in real life, types of storage devices, evolution of computer, execution of program. Charts were also prepared depicting measures to avoid cyber crime for parents and children

To commemorate the illustrious martyred sons of Guru Gobind Singh ji- Baba Ajit Singh Ji and Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, the students and the entire staff of the school paid a tribute on 26 December 2019 by reciting Japji Sahib path followed by the pious Ardaas.

To promote Indian Culture, Hindi Academy Delhi organised a program Bhasha Gaurav Shikshak Samman on 25th December 2019. It honoured the students who scored A1 grade and the Teachers who put in lot of efforts so that children could achieve the target. Teachers teaching all the Indian languages which are included in India's constitution were awarded with certificate and trophy. They are : Ms. Sarabjit Kaur(Hindi), S. Jagjit Singh (Punjabi) Ms. Manpreetika Kaur(Hindi) and Ms. Maninder Kaur (Punjabi).

Prakash Parv, the 353rd birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of Sikhs, was celebrated on 29 December 2019 with traditional fervour and gaiety. The students carried placards in the Nagar Kirtan creating awareness on the teachings of the Guru. The school children exhibited perfect discipline.




As part of ISA action plan, Class 8 students of GHPS, India Gate, planned and executed a project 'Sumptuous treats' in the months of October and November, 2019. To make children aware of the different cuisines offered by different countries various activities and competitions were organised in the school. Virtually students were exposed to additional resources .The students exhibited their innovative skills while doing the research work and analysing the data they had collected. Students were surprised to generalise how these cuisines are different, yet, share the blend of the same ingredients. The students as well as teachers, enthusiastically participated in all activities and enhanced their knowledge .

Pragat Bhayee Sagle Jug Antar Guru Nanak ki Vadhiyaee

The School celebrated 550th Prakash Purab of the first Guru, Guru Nanak Devji on November 12, 2019 with great zeal and religious fervour. The school building and the entire premises were decorated with flowers, colourful lights, candles and diyas. The programme commenced with Samapti of Sehej Paath and recital of Rehraas Sahib ji followed by a Kirtan Samagam in which students participated enthusiastically, reciting shabads in Guru's honour. Members of Mitr Pyare Alumni Association also rendered a special shabad performance to commemorate this auspicious occasion. The entire school resonated with the sound of hymns. Sakhis and speeches delivered by students gave an insight to principles and teachings of the great Guru.
The occasion was graced by the presence of School Chairman S. Amarjeet Singh ji Pinki, School Manager S. Bhupinder Singh ji Bhullar, distinguished dignitaries and an impressive gathering of Parents.
School Chairman congratulated one and all on this pious occasion. He shared his views on the indispensible values.
School Manager appreciated the efforts of participants and inspired the students to emulate the teachings of the Great Guru.
The School Principal Ms. Mandeep Kaur extended her heartfelt wishes on this religious celebration and guided the students to follow the golden principles of Kirat Karo (work honestly), Vandd Chakko (share with needy) and Naam Japo (Remember Lord)
The School Vice Principal Ms. H.K. Walia proposed vote of thanks to all the distinguished guests.
The programme concluded with lighting hundreds of candles by Teachers and Senior Students thus celebrating the first Guru's 550th birthday. The programme proved to be a spectacular success.

Keeping in view the deterioration in pollution level in Delhi and to provide relief to the students, Directorate of Education, Delhi gave Anti-Pollution Masks on 18 November 2019. Masks of N95, one of the good quality masks for tacking smog, were given to the students.

Hindi Story Telling Competition for the primary segment was held on 20.11.2019

The Constitution Day of India was celebrated in the school premises on 26 November 2019 in all its solemnity. It was marked by the conduct of a special assembly by the students of the school. The celebration started by invoking the blessings of almighty. Varisha of class 12 apprised the students about the significance of the constitution and the preamble to the students. It was followed by an oath on preamble taken by the students and administered by the Principal Ms. Mandeep Kaur. The Assembly ground echoed with words “we the people of India………”. Then came the culmination of the ceremony- a speech on our constitution which took us on a journey of our constitution from history to its present day form and its vital role to bring together and an idea called India.

Special Assembly was conducted on 27 November 2019 in the school premises to mark the martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur ji. Occasion was marked with solemnity. After the rendition of shabad, Dushleen of class 9 enlightened the students about the martyrdom of Guru Ji. Ms Jaswinder Kaur, our Punjabi teacher, informed the students about the life and teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur ji. Students who had participated in Inter-school Bani recitation and shabad rendition competitions and had brought laurels to school in the form of outstanding positions were awarded by the school Principal Ms Mandeep Kaur. The program concluded with the speech made by the school Principal who urged the students to follow the path and principles of Guru Teg Bahadur ji.

Wrokshop

An activity was conducted on 28.11. 2019 by the students of class Nursery. They recited a few lines on the topic The Sun using props and were very excited to speak over the mike.

Helga Todd Teacher Education Foundation has been working with experienced volunteer teachers and trainees to advance teacher training. Representatives from Helga Todd visited the school on 21st November 2019. Mr. Des Wakelin and Ms. Lyndsay Daly refreshed the knowledge of the mentors and observed the classes of the teachers with the help of mentors. They worked as a team of Volunteer Education Professionals pooling their experience and expertise.

Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, on Tuesday 1st October 2019 encouraged school students to become Dengue Warriors and spread awareness about campaign run by the Delhi government to tackle the Vector Borne Disease in their neighbourhood via video conferencing and asked the students to spread awareness about the 10 minutes 10 weeks campaign in their locality.

An activity of making Stick Puppet was done by the students of Nursery on the occasion of Dussehra on 7 Oct 2019.

Students from classes 9A and 9B visited the National Police Museum on 10 Oct 2019. The museum depicted the history, artefacts, uniform and gear of Central and State Police Forces. The students were enlightened about the devotion and dedication of the police all over the country.

To commemorate 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji, Dharam Prachar Committee of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Managenment Committee launched an initiative in which students of classes 6, 7 and 8 were shown Sakhis of Guruji. The audio visuals were used to spread awareness about the principles and teaching of Guruji. The students learnt about the various messages given by Guru Nanak Dev ji to spread humanity, brotherhood and to remain away from superstitions and evils. The occasion was graced by the presence of the chairman of Dharam Prachar Committee, S. Joginder Pal Singh Goldy who enlightened the students about the teaching of Guruji and importance of spiritual education. Quiz was conducted after each session and prizes were given away to the winners. It was an enriching experience for all.

The school is hosting an Inter-GHPS Volleyball Tournament (Sr Boys under 19 category) from 16 October to 18 October 2019. The school Principal Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Vice Principal Ms H.K Walia , Physical Education teachers and all participants were present at the opening ceremony . The tournament was organised to encourage more and more student participation in sports and physical activities. The Principal addressed the gathering and emphasized on the importance of games and sports for physical development and declared the meet open. The final match was played between GHPS, Karol Bagh and GHPS, Vasant Vihar. The match was won by GHPS, Vasant Vihar and was awarded with gold medals and trophy. The first runner-up team GHPS, Karol Bagh was awarded with a trophy and silver medals

Children being the largest consumers of crackers, need to be educated about its harmful effects to their health and environment. Taking up this cause, Primary Segment of the school decided to organise an Anti-Cracker Campaign. They took it upon their shoulders to educate the students to celebrate Diwali with candles, sweets and non- polluting green crackers available in the market.

An Inter-House Rangoli Competition was held in the school on 23rd October 2019. First position and second position were bagged by Baba Jujhar Singh House and Baba Zorwar Singh House respectively.

An Open Day Event was organised by National Institute of Plant Genome Research ,New Delhi on 23rd October 2019. 23 students from classes 11 and 12 accompanied by a science teacher, Ms. Bhavna Kapoor visited this place. They witnessed latest technology and new inventions in Plant Genome Project, confocal laser, scanning microscope, experimental activities on tissue culture and DNA extraction from living sources. Students enjoyed the visit and the plethora of exhibits left them spell bound. The trip was an enriching experience for them.

The school organized Rising Spirit HOL, A Collaborative Event on 24th Oct 2019 in the school premises. It was a day when we saw creativity exploding in every piece of Art, Sport and Academics. It was a wonderful opportunity to think out of the box. The competition gives the student a platform to display their vivid ideas and learn more by interacting with other students. Saraswati Bal Mandir Sr Sec School, Mehraulli, Govt Sarvodya Kanya Vidalaya, Aram Bagh Lane, NP Co-Ed sr sec School, Kidwai nagar and the host school GHPS India Gate, participated in a plethora of events. An interactive session on the topic "Fundamental Rights and Current Affairs" was conducted. It was a mind boggling discussion. Saraswati Bal Mandir Sr. Sec. School bagged 1st position. In Collage making completion on "Water Conservation", GHPS India Gate secured 1st position. In Rangoli and Slogan writing competition on the topic "Diwali" the artistic work of the students made every one spell bound. In inter school volley ball match GHPS India Gate won the 1st position. All these events enhanced awareness among students and developed harmony and healthy environment among the partner schools.

Ruhani Prakash Program was organised at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on 1st September 2019 to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. I.G Stadium was all lit up with the divine glow of celebrations. The program started at 5:00 p.m. and we witnessed a huge presence of Sangat. Defence Minister, Mr. Rajnath Singh, former Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, Shiromani Akali Dal Pradhan, Sukhbir Singh Badal and other dignitaries graced the occasion with their gracious presence. 1100 students from different branches of Guru Harkishan Public Schools presented Kirtan. Virtual Reality show on Guru Nanak Dev ji was the focus of attraction.

The formal ceremony of conferring the responsibility to the newly elected office bearers and prefectorial teams of the four houses was held on 4 Sept. 2019. The programme commenced by invoking the blessings of Almighty. Head boy Amandeep Singh (12B), Head girl Gurleen Kaur (12 A) along with House captains, Sports Captain, Divinity co-ordinator were honoured with badges by the School Principal Ms. Mandeep Kaur , Vice Principal, Ms. H.K. Walia, HM, Ms. Virdi. The newly elected students council pledged to bestow their duties in the best of their abilities. Principal congratulated everyone and emphasized on the need to become more focussed on their goals and advised them to be role models for other students. She extended a supporting hand to the students' council for the smooth running of the school.

The school celebrated Teachers' Day with great zeal and enthusiasm on 5th September 2019. A special Assembly was conducted in the morning by invoking the blessings of the almighty. It was followed by thought and speech by Jasnoor Kaur and Supreet Kaur of class 10 highlighting the contribution of teachers. A beautiful poem dedicated to teachers was recited by Dev Garg of class 9. A special presentation in the form of song was made by music choir. Head Girl, School representatives and other Pupil teachers felicitated the Principal ,Vice Principal, Headmistress, Office Superintendent and other Staff members with bouquet. The school Principal Ms Mandeep kaur congratulated and wished everyone on the occasion and stressed on a significant role of the teachers in moulding lives of their students. A volleyball match was also organised between the staff and students. It was enjoyed by all. The day culminated with a sumptuous lunch organised for the stuff at Russian Cultural Centre.

5SEPT2019

The Tiny Tots of Pre-Nursery celebrated the Grandparents Day on 17 September 2019. The dadas- dadis and nanas-nanis had a fun-filled day in which they played a variety of games and sang songs for their spouses. The grandparents of Divjot Kaur, Mr Kulwant Singh and Mrs Jaswinder Kaur walked away with the title of Super Grandfather and Super Grandmother respectively after their graceful Catwalk. It was a treat to the eyes to watch the grandparents play the games of balloon bursting with child like enthusiasm. They expressed their gratitude to the school for giving them an opportunity to enjoy a day of fun and frolic.

Cleanliness drive for Swachh Bharat in accordance with cleanliness drive started by our honorable Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, the role of schools has been instrumental in realising the mission of Swachh Bharat as the school plays a vital role in spreading the swachhta awareness and implementation across the country. We observed swachhta pakhwada from 1 Sept to 12 Sept 2019.

Swachhta Shapath Day (3 Sept. 2019) as a part of swachhta pakwada the students took pledge to keep the country clean. Students spoke about the importance of cleanliness in the morning assembly.

Swachhta Awareness Day (3 Sept. 2019) special drive for cleanliness was carried out by extensive cleaning of toilets, classrooms, fans, windows etc. in the school premises.

Community Participation Day (4 Sept to 5 Sept 2019) A school March by the students carrying slogans was organised to sensitize local community members regarding the importance of cleanliness in our life.

Teachers Counseled the students about their behavioural changes regarding keeping surroundings clean and sensitized students about adoption of proper Healthcare practices.

Green School Drive (6 Sept. 2019) a plantation drive was organised in the school. Students planted saplings and small plants in the school premises. Broken furniture and unusable equipments have been removed from the premises of the school.

Separate dust bins are used to put bio degradable and non degradable waste.

Hand wash and personal hygiene day( 9Sept 2019) Regarding the observance of swachhta pakhwada, many inter- house activities like painting competition, essay writing competition ,slogan writing, Poem writing on the theme of swachhta were conducted in classes III to VIII by the school. The school organised Handwash Day in primary segment to sensitise the students about the importance of handwashing. Students were motivated to make hand wash a habit and lead a healthy and better life. Activities were also conducted in the primary segment regarding personal hygiene.

Swachhta Hi Seva and letter Writing Day (10 Sept 2019) Shramdaan by student members of the school, Care About Nation Team (CAN) wherein they under took cleanliness drive in the school premises and nearby areas to keep the surroundings clean. Letter writing day was also observed. Children wrote letters to the authorities and parents regarding what they have learnt in the past few days during the observance of swachhta pakhwada.

Swachhta School Exhibition and Action Day ( 11 Sept 2019) Students made useful items using waste material in their work experience activity and exhibition displaying photographs on swachata activities like painting, slogan writing, essay writing by the students
